Dr. Maite Fuertes

Born in Barcelona in 1951. Graduated with a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona in 1978.

In 1979 she began to study acupuncture in Barcelona with the Auriculotherapy and Acupuncture medical team of the Hospital del Mar, under Dr. Tomas Taure.

Diploma from the School of Acupuncture of the General Hospital of Colombo, Sri-Lanka in 1981.

Private practice since 1982 in various cities (e.g. Manresa, Berga) and then in Barcelona, where she currently resides.

In 1982 she began Seitai studies at the Seitai Academy of Barcelona.

Graduated in 1987 with a diploma in Acupuncture from the French Association of Acupuncture (Association Francaise d’Acupuncture), after three years of study in France.

In 1990 received certificate from the “Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center Dongzhimen”, in China.

Since 1991, she has combined working as a professor with her private acupuncture practice at the EMAI Centre in Barcelona.

From 1992 to 1998, participated as treasurer and member of the board of the Acupuncture Physicians Section of the Board of Physicians of Barcelona. Certified in Acupuncture by the Board of Physicians of Barcelona and Master’s from the University of Barcelona- Bosch I Gimpera Foundation.

Taught acupuncture at several alternative medicine schools in Barcelona from 1992 to 1996.

As of 1996, Teaching Commission member and professor of Acupuncture for Master’s Programme in Acupuncture for medical school graduates of the University of Barcelona–IL3.

Teaching staff member from 2005 to 2008 for the Master’s degree programme for Veterinary Acupuncture at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
